From September 19-21, 2026, a powerful convergence of minds and missions took place at the Saint Vincent School of Theology in Quezon City. Facilitated by HPFPI and PACSII, the Collective Housing – National Savings Workshop brought together regional leaders and youth representatives from across the nation for a transformative three-day dialogue. This wasn’t just another meeting—it was a pivotal step toward reimagining the very foundation of community development through savings.
The workshop had two bold objectives: first, to expand the vision of community-based savings beyond its traditional focus on land and housing, and second, to establish strong national operational standards for the HPFPI Savings Program. The goal? To nurture a more holistic, resilient, and empowered approach to community growth.
So, how did we turn these ambitions into action? Through dynamic collaboration and shared wisdom. The event blended internal strategy sessions with invaluable external insights. Leaders from Plan International Pilipinas and KAPSA QC took the stage, sharing proven best practices and sparking inspiration. The core of the workshop, however, was the focused, collective effort to draft “National Savings 2.0”—a renewed framework designed to be more inclusive, effective, and sustainable.
The results were profound and tangible. Participants co-created an updated national savings framework built on five key pillars that emerged from their discussions:
- Savings Mindset & Trust Building: Strengthening the social fabric that makes collective action possible.
- Governance, Leadership & Accountability: Ensuring transparency and integrity at every level.
- Financial Management & Sustainability: Creating systems that endure and empower.
- Institutionalisation & Policy Support: Embedding change within structures and guidelines.
- Youth Engagement & Future Resilience: Actively involving the next generation to secure long-term impact.
This workshop proved that when communities, partners, and the youth unite with a shared vision, the path forward becomes clear. What began as a program focused on housing has evolved into a broader movement—one that saves not just money, but also secures dignity, opportunity, and a sustainable future for all.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our core partners, HPFPI and PACSII, for making this landmark event possible.
